Wests women have capped a fantastic T20 campaign with a big premiership win over University of Queensland in the final at Allan Border Field.

The girls emphatic 60-run win over UQ in the final followed a big 63-run victory over Valleys in their semi-final the previous day and followed a great Twenty 20 campaign where they won 10 out of 12 games and topped the competition ladder.

Wests batted first in the final with Josie Dooley and Kirby Short opening the batting. They took Wests to 60 before Kirby departed for 17 followed by Josie soon after with 33. Courtney Sippel 19 and Megan Dixon 38 (off 25) took the innings almost to the end before Holly Ferling and Sam Dixon added some final quick runs to take the total to 142.

Wests were among the wickets quickly when Laura Harris was caught by Ashleigh Sims off Megan Dixon’s bowling on the last ball of the second over with the score on 18. Jess Jonassen scored a quick 42 off only 30 balls, before she was caught and bowled by Meagan Dixon with the score on 69. The remaining wicket tumbled rapidly and UQ were all out for 82 in the sixteenth over. Ashleigh Sims finished with three wickets, Courtney Sippel and Megan Dixon with two and Sam Dixon with one.

Congratulation on two great wins and the Katherine Raymont Shield T20 premiership, ladies. Great job!
