It is with deep sadness that the club acknowledges the passing of Queensland cricket and Wests life member, John “Jack” McLaughlin.

Jack was born 18 February 1930 at Corinda. He played 126 first grade games for Wests as player and captain for over 16 seasons. Jack made his Queensland debut in 1948 and represented the state up until 1962/63.

Jack was associated with the club for more than 75 years as player, coach and selector for both Wests and Queensland. He served on the Wests committee as well as being a commentator for the ABC and a columnist for the Courier Mail.

During Jack’s time at Wests he scored nearly 5000 runs for the club. A pretty impressive effort on an uncovered wicket!

Jacks funeral will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday the 22nd of April at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, Corinda. A celebration of life will follow at the Brisbane Golf Club, 70 Tennyson Memorial Avenue, Yeerongpilly. All are welcome.
