Looking to continue their run of form, Wests lost the toss and were sent in to bowl. The bowling was a bit erratic early on. However, the young boys brought the momentum back with some very disciplined bowling in the middle overs of the game. The best bowling being Michael Harper – 2/12 (6 overs) and Dupinder Singh – 2/27 (10 overs). Wickets were also taken by Hayden Evetts, Jack Sonter and Jackson Evetts. UQ posted 163 for the loss of 9 wickets.
Wests started slowly but confidently with the bat. On a turning wicket, Wests played the spin reasonably well with mentionable scores going to both the openers, Jamie Ross-Lavender (22 off 49) and Hayden Evetts (22 off 58), and Lachie Cumming (26 off 57). But the standout performance was Lachie Biggs who held the innings together with his 37 off 54 and finished the game off with the help of Toby Matthew’s 14 off 29 balls under high pressure. Darcy Graham hit the winning run on the last ball of the match to get Wests home. Heading into the break, the Tav’s boys are keen to rest up before their game against Souths in two weeks.
