Almost six months after undergoing a rebuild from the bottom up, the all-new Graceville one wicket block will host its first game this weekend.
Wests first grade men will do the honours playing a two-day game against Toombul. The boys are in fine form, and are looking to repeat their fine one-day premiership-winning performance of last weekend with a strong opening weekend for the new strip. This will be their first home game of the season, coming back to Graceville after seven long weeks on the road.
Wests groundsman “Doggie” is happy with the way the new block has shaped up, but says that there will be a bit of guess work in fine-tuning the wicket preparation until it’s put through its paces a few times. He’s aiming for a wicket with a bit in it for both batsmen and bowlers so we can look forward to a competitive game for the block’s first performance on the grand stage.
So drop in and check out the action as it returns to Graceville 1 this Saturday. The game starts at 10am.
