Sofia Nearhos belts a four on her way to an unbeaten 40.

After two completely washed-out weeks, Wests Chelmer Girls Cricket Challenge teams fronted up for another

Stage 1 Avocets vs UQ

The Avocets faced stiff competition from the UQ Fire team with a good showing all round by the players on both teams. UQ Fire’s 95 runs was ultimately too many for the Avocets 62 runs with the UQ Fire winning the day. The teams were fairly evenly matched with the exception of Flossie from the UQ Fire team that almost scored a half century off her 17 balls faced.

All girls played well with some tight bowling and good running between the wickets. The strongest batting results for the Wests team when to Rhea (15), Astrid (13) and Lucinda (12). Also, the Avocets put in a great bowling effort with the strongest results from Lucia (12 runs conceded off 3 overs with 2 wickets), Namreet (6 runs conceded off 2 overs) and Lucinda (15 runs conceded off 3 overs).

Stage 2/3 Eagles vs Kenmore Fire

After a couple of weeks of rain we finally got a chance to play on CJ greenfield versing Kenmore Fire 🔥. Unfortunately we only had six players on the field.

We lost the toss and were sent in to bat. Emma got us of to a great start with a quick fire 15 off 8 balls. The team scored 76 runs with the loss of 2 wickets, in 20 overs!

We needed to keep our bowling accurate and consistent. Emma got us off to a great start with a very important wicket in the first over. The rest of the team followed with Tanvi tanking 3 for 4, Penny 1 for 16 and a couple of run outs.

Stage 2/3 Ospreys vs Souths Fire

Last night the Wests Ospreys against the Souths Flames kicked off the game with a clean take of a wicket from Ashley Oates. Our batting top scorer of the night was Sofia Nearhos with 40 runs off 29 balls. We came out with an overall win for the night. It was a great game, best of luck for next week!
