Wests women’s first grade team have catapaulted into the Katherine Raymont Shield T20 final with a big win over Sandgate-Redcliffe in their semi-final today at Allan Border Field.
The 29-run victory was built on a magnificent 144 off just 64 balls from Grace Harris and a fantastic 68 of 50 balls by fellow opener Annie Wikman. The girls backed up a fine batting effort with a determined effort with the ball, holding off a late charge by Sandgate-Redcliffe’s Australian rep player Beth Mooney who counterpunched with a typically elegant and undefeated 121 off 59 balls. Courtney Sippel put Wests on the front foot with the ball with three wickets and Grace Harris and Ash Sims chipped in with one wicket each.
The win puts the them into the final tomorrow against either Valleys or Gold Coast, with their opponent to be determined in the second semi-final this afternoon.
