1st grade didn’t make the most of a dominant position on week one against Sandgate being all bowled out for 224 at the close of play. The batting innings got off to a rocky start with opener Brendan Smith dismissed for 6. Opening partner Isaiah Snell and number 3 Sam Truloff went about building a partnership on a green wicket. Snell and Truloff made it to lunch and shared in a 103 run stand with Truloff passing 50 after the lunch break. When Truloff was dismissed caught at slip for 59 the score was 2 for 110, then Snell went almost immediately after suffering the same fate caught at slip for 44 with wests now 3 – 111. Ben Maynard came and went quickly and when he was dismissed wests were 4 – 113 having lost 3 – 3. Allrounder Steve McGiffin and skipper Pat Collins then shared in a 54 run partnership when McGiffin was dismissed for 27. Wests then lost their last 5 wickets for 17 runs. Big job to do with the ball this coming Saturday.

2nd grade had a great day with the ball dismissing Sandgate for 119, with contributions from all the bowlers (Whitney 2 wickets, Dooley 3 wickets, Vellicott 3 wickets, Penn 1 wicket and Seaward 1 wicket). Wests in reply are 5/94 with Max Carylon (33) and Tom Pappalardo (30*).

3rd grade had a gritty day with the bat getting to 8 – 181 at the close of play with skipper Trent Kenny leading from the front with a patient 77 off 210 against Sandgate.

4th grade had a day to forget being knocked over for 84 and Redlands already claiming 1st innings points finishing the day at 5 – 178. Cam Steinhardt has claimed all 5 of the wickets with figures of 5 – 79.

6th grade are slightly in front in their match against Redlands after making 170 with Ryan Gibson (46) and Sam Vaughey (39) top scoring. In reply Redlands are 2 – 21 with Ian ‘Rowdy’ Donaldson and Maxwell Clift taking a wicket each.
