On Sunday, the Paul Pink shield girls fought for a spot in the Semi Finals, and earned it rightfully!
This week the wests captain lost the toss, however got the desired result which was to bat. The team opened with Claire Molloy and Rebecca Storrs. Both put up a fight, seeing off the opening bowlers. Rebecca retired with 13 off 17and Claire got out to a straight one with 19 off 25, kicking the team off to a great start once again. Woman of the match was Filippa SueSee scored 39 off 35. A few quick wickets went down, then Scarlett Varidel went in in the 10th over and scored 36 off 34, bringing the total to 4-134 off 20.
The westies once again opened the bowling with spin. Olivia Totten and Aya Stafford both succeeded in keeping their openers to a low total during their spells. Aya cooked up none for 10 off 4 with 2 maidens, and Olivia had 1 for 9 off 4, setting the standard high. Filippa SueSee took the ball and impressed us with 3 for 10 of three overs with a catch. The match was finished off with Wynnum all out for 48, handing the match to Wests and sending them off to the Semi Finals on Friday night at Chelmer.
