1st grade made an emphatic start to the back end of the season with a thumping victory over Toombul at GMP#1 over the weekend. The bulldogs bowled first in hot conditions with Luke Penn becoming 1st grade player number 570 with wests making the perfect start with Darcy Murphy claiming the first wicket caught behind and to have Toombul 1 -11. Aiden Watterson then went to work alongside Steve McGiffin and Blake Edwards bowling as unit to keep the runs to a minimum. Watterson toiled hard alongside, McGiffin and Penn in the middle session, Penn taking the big wicket of Jarryd Blake who made a half century caught at mid off. Watterson and McGiffin bowled exceptionally in tandem with Watterson claiming is maiden 5 wicket haul snaring 5 – 44 from 19 overs. McGiffin who’s recently made his big bash debut bowled a mountain of overs to claim 1 – 65 from 24.1 overs. Toombul were all out for 243 at the end of day 1. Wests made shaky start with bat on day 2 with skipper and opener Pat Collins falling for 3, but once again this season opener Isaiah Snell and number 3 Sam Truloff steadied things puting on a 91 run partnership before Snell fell for a patient 35 from 108 with Truloff passing 50. McGiffin then came to the crease and put on 70 runs with Truloff – with Truloff bringing up his 4th century of the season, McGiffin then fell for 18 caught and bowled. A number of small contribution from the middle order alongside Truloff ensured victory was achieved, Truloff was eventually dismissed for 163 late in the day, his last 5 innings in 2 day cricket read 134*, 136*, 113, 71 and 163. Some lusty hitting from Aiden Watterson 25 from 14 balls got the total up to 8 – 316 at the end of the day

2nd grade didnt fair so well against Toombul being all out for 127 with Nick Vellacotts 55 the only score of note, Toombul made light work of the total being all out for 277, Will Dooley 4 – 42, Luke Davies 2 – 11 and first gamer Toby Matthews 2 – 67 the pick of the bowlers

3rd grade not confirmed

4th grade had a 3 wicket win over Valleys after bowling Valleys out for 153, wests then chased down the total with the loss of 7 wickets

5th grade went down to Valleys after Valleys made 148, Steve Gramenz 3 – 23 and Nick Purser 2 – 14 were the pick of the bowlers. Wests were then all out for 98 with Lachie Cumming’s 28 the only score of note .

6th grade had a 3 wicket win over Valleys having them 8 for 132 at the end of their innings with Curtis Beevers 3 – 7 the best of the bowlers, with Luke Peff 2 – 26 and and Oliver Richardson 2 – 25 contributing nicely. Wests ran down the total 7 down with Sam Vaughey 46 and Tom Stevenson 31 the main contributors.
