WSDCC O40s played Ipswich Hornets on the weekend who are the top team in the competition boasting two Australian O40s reps.
Today we welcomed two new players to the squad, Nathan Hatherly and Dan Cochrane. We won the toss and batted first making 138 against a very good bowling outfit. Sachen Jayaweera 38 and Jamie Pitt 21.
We knew we had to bowl them out to win so Michael Crump and Jaime Pitt opened the bowling and got the early wickets and dried up the runs. After 17 overs they were 3/60. With 10 overs to go and 40 runs to win with 5 wickets in hand it looked like Ipswich was going to cruise to victory again until Peter Wrigley was given the ball. THREE wickets in FOUR balls, just missing out on his hatrick! (4/17 from 4 overs). A MOM performance!
