There were some great individual performances last weekend!
But… three games… three losses.
First Grade – One Day vs Gold Coast
Grace led the way with the bat after Gold Coast won the toss and put Wests in to wield the willow. She cracked her first ton for the season in just 74 balls. It was a typical Grace Light & Sound Show featuring ten fours and two bombs.
Megan Dixon (25 from 27) and Eloise Schabe (37 from 68) provided great support and several others chipped in to get the total to a strong 9/259 in their fifty overs.
With an imposing total on the board, West started confidently with the ball, with Megan taking the key wicket of Tara Wheeler early. The going got tough after that, though with Georgia Redmayne and Courtney Sippel steadily piling on the runs until Naiya Varidel had Georgia Redmayne caught by Megan for 106 with her first delivery.
With 83 runs still to get, there was brief hope in the Wests camp, but it was not to be with Courtney Sippel (not out 101) and Grace Parsons taking it home for a Gold Coast win with six overs remaining.
A great effort by the girls, only bested by a fantastic batting performance by the GC.

Second Grade – Double T20s vs UQ and Souths
It was a tough start to the season for our second grade women with two T20 losses to UQ and Souths.
In the first game, UQ racked up an imposing total of 5/125. Wests started well, but UQ got away in the middle overs with the second wicket not falling until 93 runs were on the board. Caitlin Lutvey and Clair Molloy shared the bowling honours with two wickets apiece.
Wests bats fought hard, but struggled to maintain the required run rate in the face of steadily falling wickets. UQ took the match by 50 runs with Rebecca Storrs and Clair Molloy being the biggest contributors with the bat.
In game 2, Wests bowling effort was considerably improved, restricting Souths to a neat 100 from their 20 overs with Aya Stafford grabbing three wickets and Scarlett Varidel relinqishing her usual spot behind the stumps to grab two wickets with the ball.
Unfortunately, a slow start with the bat continued throughout the innings and Wests feel short by just 12 runs with seven wickets in hand. Rebecca Storrs top scored with a handy unbeaten 30 with Taylor Hamblin chalking up 19 and Clair Molloy 16.
