The 2018-19 season saw a change in representative junior cricket with the advent of new Queensland Cricket state championship competitions for girls in U13 and U15 age groups (complementing the existing U17 comp). For boys, new Queensland Cricket State championships for U13, U14 and U15 age groups will complement the U16 Rookie challenge competition.
Wests provides pathways for our promising young cricketers to trial for these teams through our affiliation with MSW. These competitions are the official Cricket Australia pathway for young cricketers to be selected for Queensland representative age-level teams, and the Australian representative team at U19 level.
Early each season, the Western Suburbs Juniors are invited to nominate registered players to trial for selection in the MSW U12 to U15 representative teams. Normally there are two teams selected for each age group and these competitions are held in the Christmas school holidays.
MSW expects that the Club will only nominate players to trial who have demonstrated above average cricketing skills and the appropriate attitude. Details about nomination will be updated soon.
For more details about MSW Representative Cricket, please visit the MSW Website.
A number of Wests players also play representative cricket through the Queensland School Sports system at district, regional and state team level.
For older juniors, Wests will field teams in both Lords Taverners U16 premier competition (for boys) and in the Girls Youth Premier competition (for girls).
