Wests cricketers (left to right) Naiya Varidel (Met West), Emma Savage (Met East), Mia Brown (Met West) and Eliza Goffage (Met West) tasted success at the recent Queensland School Sports Girls 15 & Under Queensland State Cricket Championships.
Met West won three games out of four pool games (the fourth was a washout), including a win against defending champions the Darling Downs, but went down in the grand final to the Sunshine Coast team. Met East won one of three completed pool games but came back in the final day playoff to defeat Capricornia and claim fifth place.
The girls all contributed with Mia keeping wicket for 120 overs over three days, Emma and Naiya making solid runs with the bat at critical times and Eliza claiming several key wickets.
