West’s were at home to the second placed Gold Coast team. West’s won the toss and elected to bat. In a must win game for both teams West’s started the innings slowly with early wickets and looked like posting a small total when they slumped to 5 for 60. A solid 100+ run partnership between Jack Sonter and Jacob Kumaru shifted momentum back to the home team. West’s finished with a very competitive 179 run total. Best batting was Jacob Kumaru with 63 and Jack Sonter with 39.

In response the Gold Coast lads started solidly with an opening unbeaten stand of 30 before Jacob Kumaru removed both openers in close succession. From then on the West’s team dominated with regular wickets and lots of enthusiasm in the field, including a stunning catch by Jamie Ross-Lavender. An excellent spell of leg spin bowling from Michael Harper keep the pressure on the visitors. West’s cruised to victory when they bowled out Gold Coast in the 42nd over on 142, leaving Wests with an excellent 38 run win. Best bowling was Michael Harper (4/28 off 10 overs), Jacob Kumaru (3/29 off 8 overs) and Toby Matthews (2/24 off 9.2 overs).
