Our women’s teams completely turned around last week’s three-peat losses with three determined wins this weekend!

First Grade vs Wynnum-Manly/Redlands

First grade fought hard for a twenty-run victory over Wynnum-Manly/Redlands. Our batting was considerable improvement on last week’s effort with the girls running up 9/180 from their 50 overs. The top six bats all chalked up double-figure scores, but unfortunately none of them were able to kick on and post a big score. Isabel Goffage top-scored with a dogged 34 off 72 balls and Isobel Hartog brought home the innings with a well-compiled and undefeated 33 of 56 balls.

The bowling was tight all round with Jess Bryant again in the wickets, taking three, while Annie Wikman and Ash Sims took two each and Olivia Steel captured one. Two sharp runouts completed the full suite of wickets and the Dogs brought the Wynnum-Manly/Redlands innings to a halt on 160 for a 20 run win.

After three straight losses in the previous three games, the win was a big confidence-booster for the team!

Second Grade T20s vs Norths and Sandgate-Redcliffe

Twos everywhere…our twos girls played two T20s again this weekend for two wins!

On Friday, the girls took on Norths under lights in a T20 at Chelmer. Wests tightened the fielding screws and kept the Norths innings to 7/52 with Erin Moran and Jess Bryant taking two wickets each and Eliza Goffage taking one. Wests openers Isobel Hartog and Isabel Goffage made short work of the run chase, and secured a 10-wicket win in the seventh over.

On Sunday, the girls backed up with a T20 game against Sandgate-Redcliffe at Graceville. The Dogs again bowled first and again kept it very tight with the visitors managing only 6/53. Kyrna Crump and Sophie Martin snared two scalps apiece and Lilli Hamilton and Ashleigh Oates grabbed one each. Congratulations to Holly Walker who bowled two overs for 6 runs in her debut grade cricket game.

The top order bats again crushed the run chase securing the win in the tenth over by nine wickets. Lilli Hamilton top scored with 23 not out off only 25 balls.

Great work ladies to get back in the winners circle!
