Update Thursday February 05, 2020:
Unfortunately due to forecast wet weather this game has been cancelled. Queensland Veterans Cricket intends to reschedule the game for a date later in the year.
Queensland Fire will take on the Queensland Veterans team in a Pink Stumps Day T20 Exhibition Match at Chelmer Sports Ground on Friday March 6.
The game will start at 3:30pm and will be followed by an Under 15 girls T20 match (after 6:30pm) between Wests Eagles and Wests Ospreys in the Chelmer Girls Cricket Challenge competition.
The Veterans team will include Wests legends Greg Rowell and Jon Dooley, and the Queensland Fire line-up will include current and rising female stars of cricket in Queensland. The Fire squad includes Wests players Courtney Sippel, Grace Harris, Kirby Short, Meagan Dixon and Holly Ferling and it’s likely that some (or perhaps all!) of them will also feature in the exhibition match.
In the spirit of Pink Stumps Day, the game will raise funds for the McGrath Foundation‘s cause of funding breast care nurses, and providing support for individual and families experiencing breast cancer.
The game will also support the introduction of a new Women’s Veteran Cricket competition planned by Queensland Veterans Cricket.
Wests will be running a full service canteen cafe for the event. And yes, it will be serving the famous Wests’ Beef Burgers and other delights!
So plan to come down to Chelmer Sports Ground on March 6 and spend the evening supporting Pink Stumps Day and enjoying a great cricket event!
