Rain played a big part in the women’s grade cricket games on December 1, washing out first grade’s 50 over clash with UQ, and shortening one of the two T20s played by second grade.

First Grade

First Grade were in a strong position in their game against UQ before the game was washed out. The girls had bowled UQ out for 218 runs in the fiftieth over. Eliza Goffage took an impressive 5/32 of 8.3 overs, and Ash Sims and Kathleen Mallyon also took a wicket each.

The match was abandoned before Wests batting innings commenced.

Second Grade

Second grade played two T20s against Ipswich-Logan and Souths. With a number of players injured or on rep duties, it was a challenging day again for the girls.

The girls batted first against Ipswich/Logan at lost wickets steadily to finish on 45 runs, a total which was overtaken in the eighth over by Ipswich/Logan.

Wests batting strengthened in the second game against Souths with Isabel Goffage making 29 and Kinjal Dani posting 13 in a team total of 67. The game was reduce to 14 overs in the second innings due to rain, and the target was reduce to 51 which Souths overtook for the loss of two wickets (which fell to Erin Moran and Victoria Lloyd).
