Wests’ women’s squad had their first hit-out of the season with a intra-club practice at Graceville Memorial Park this weekend. A gusty wind picked up steadily through the day, keeping conditions crisp and the ball hooping.

The girls have been working hard for a couple of months with Tammy’s Torture Training Squad running on Saturdays and net training kicking off a few weeks ago.

The centre wicket session was a great way to blow out some winter cobwebs and start to get a feel for an exciting upcoming season.

It was also the first opportunity to have a run on the hallowed ground of Oval No.1… taking a bit of the early fire out of the wicket so the blokes don’t get too cut up when they roll out for their first trial game on it on Sunday!

The first round of the Katherine Raymont Shield starts in just three weeks with a one day game on September 13 and second grade (the Jodie Fields Shield) commences hostilities in early October.
