Matt Conwell, the Queensland Cricket manager for the Metro South West region suddenly and tragically passed away in an accident last week. His loss is a terrible time for his young family and a sad loss for the cricket community.
Matt was the QC manager for the MSW junior region for several years, and had recently taken on a new role as QC’s coaching and talent specialist for the MSW and Darling Downs regions. He was a great supporter of Wests junior development and girls cricket programs and provided immense energy and assistance to junior cricket at our club and in the MSW junior region. Matt developed strong personal ties with many members of our club through both his role as the regional QC officer and through coaching Queensland junior representative teams. His loss has been felt by Wests players and officials at a very personal level.
Matt’s friendly smile and energetic efforts for junior cricketers in our region will be sorely missed.
Matt leaves behind a young family and his passing presents enormous challenges for them. Matt’s wife Ashleigh is expecting triplets at the end of the year, so any financial support during this time would be amazing, and greatly welcomed.

Vale, Matt. You’re greatly missed.
