The effect of rain over the weekend left all matches interestingly placed or unfortunately abandoned week 1.
1st grade won the toss and elected to bat against a star studded norths line up, with Norths openers Joe Burns and Tom Healy making a very cautious start. Brendan Doggett and Blake Edwards started very well with the ball but were unlucky not to get rewarded. Brendan Doggett struck after lunch removing test opener Joe Burns LBW for 64 a ball before the rain called play for the day with Norths 2 – 91.
