Wests girls teams put on a great showing in the Chelmer Girls Cricket Challenge this weekend, and (mostly!) managed to avoid the rain!

Harris Shield – Ospreys vs Harriers

Harriers Report

by Scarlett Varidel

Wests take on each other!
On Friday, the Wests Harriers played the Wests Ospreys in an exiting game to take home a win. The Harriers won by 33 runs in the 20th over!

The Harriers had a top scorer in the batting of Holly Walker with 18 off 21. Our leading wicket taker of Poppy Weekes with 1 maiden and 1 wicket!

The conversations in the batting line up were on the basis of our love for food and our controversial thoughts about school. The rave about Wendy’s burgers at the Chelmer canteen continued to bustle the players and the fans! Good luck next week girls!

Harris Shield Development – Kestrels vs Moggill CC

by David Kroeger

On Friday night the newly formed Kestrels team played their first match of the MSW: Harris Shield Development (CGCC – Stage 2) Comp against the Moggill Fire. Kestrels won the toss and elected to field. Lucy Pagliano (C), Rhea Chandran, Sarah Kroeger and Mischa Ried took a wicket each. Mischa (1) and Sarah (2) were involved in run-outs. Lucy and Rhea both took catches. This resulted in the Kestrels restricting Moggill Fire to 7/71.

The Kestrels then went into bat and managed 4/63 in their allotted overs. Rhea Chandran top scored with 19 not out. Well done, Rhea, and well done to the team for not being bowled out. Overall it was a very good first outing, and all batsmen have identified the need to score more quickly in games to follow. This will be one area of focus in training over the next few weeks.

Stage 1 – Egrets vs BSK Unicorns
