All senior men’s matches are evenly poised against cross – town rivals souths from 1st to 6th grade.
In what was a slow and patient day at souths, 1st grade were in the field and made the perfect start with seamer Darcy Murphy claiming an early wicket having souths opener Duval LBW for 3. Aiden Watterson then knocked over opener Jain castling his stumps but it was deemed a front foot no-ball. Opener Jain and number 3 then put on a 124 run stand with the run rate barely getting above 2 an over when spinner Zac Beveridge had Jain LBW for 78. Skipper and spinner Paddy Dooley then removed Eccles for 13 caught behind by Snell leaving Souths 3 – 153. Beveridge then claimed Faber for 45 caught by Del Simone then big hitter Cutting who was caught by Sippel for 9. Souths finished what was a slow day 5 – 275 with number 3 Peterson 122 not out. Zac Beveridge was the pick of the bowlers claiming 3 – 45.
2nd grade are in a tight contest at GMP1 having dismissed Souths for 117 with debutant Dupinder Singh picking up a 5 wicket haul of 5 -17 and was well supported by Tom Whitney 2 – 39 and skipper Nick Vellacott 3 – 24. Wests at the end of the days play are 8 – 87 in reply trailing by 30 runs to claim 1st innings points.
3rd – 5th grade had incomplete scorecards on my cricke
6th grade are 6 – 171 at the close of play with Eashan Nakar 64 not out and Alex Gadaleta 40 not out at Chelmer.
Our Lords Taveners went down to Wynnum on Sunday after Wynnum posted 234 after Curtis Beevers claimed 4 – 54 off 10 overs. Wests were all out for 137 in reply with Jack Sonter top scoring with 31 from 63 balls.
