Harris Shield – Ospreys vs Souths Fire

by Sophie Martin

Last Friday the 30th of October, Wests Ospreys took on Souths Fire in a close game at Chelmer. The girls worked extremely hard with the game coming down to the last couple of overs. In the end, Souths Fire won by 17 runs with only 2.1 overs remaining in the Ospreys’ batting innings.
The girls batted and bowled well with the highlights of Ashleigh Oates taking 2 wickets for 15 runs off four overs and Olivia Totten achieving 1 wicket for 16 runs with 1 maiden off 3 overs. Both girls also created a run out.
With everyone in the Ospreys team training hard, the girls cannot wait to take on the UQ Blaze in the coming week.

Harris Shield – Harriers vs UQ Blaze

by Scarlett Varidel

On Friday, the Wests Harries obliterated the UQ Blaze. Wests won the toss and elected to bat, but with the Blaze short of players, we took on the field. We fought for our wickets strong and had intent in the field! We had a leading wicket taker of Holly Walker with 4 for 3 off 3 with 1 maiden over, restricting them to 18 runs. After having to break up the wrestling match between the players, we took on the challenge with the bat.

Opening with Hannah Piper and Hayley Jericevich, the innings began. The sideline talk of high school and cheering on out batters got the team buzzing, then went in Allegra Nearhos to kick off the run rate. Poppy Weekes went in at 6 to bring us to a win! Holly walker went in to smash some runs to conclude her absolute cracker of a game. Wests Harriers remain top of the table in the Harris shield and continue to fight for 1st! Good luck next week girls!
