Wests’ junior cricketers wound up their 2018-19 season with a big finale at the club’s Junior Awards Night at Chelmer Sports Ground on March 22.
A fine crowd of players, parents and supporters turnout for a fun night celebrating a great season where about 30 Wests junior teams competed in MSW competitions. The Wests +Plus Cricket Academy put on a fine exhibition T20 game under lights showcasing the skills they’ve honed over the last nine months.
Queensland Bulls, Brisbane Heat and Wests First Grade men’s stars Sam Truloff and Brendan Doggett provided some great insights for our young players into their experience as premier grade and state level cricketers and did a fine job presenting awards to the junior players.
Wests juniors accepted medals for four premierships won this season in the U15-17 Open Division 2 (Wests Warriors), U13 Division 1 (Wests Bulldogs), U11 Division 1 (Wests Bulldogs), and the Chelmer Girls Cricket Challenge Stage 2 (Wests Falcons). Individual Player Awards were also distributed for Batting, Bowling, Fielding and the Most Improved players.
Congratulations to all players on completing a great season and special congratulations to all of our junior award winners and premiership teams. Well done, good luck for your winter sports, and we look forward to seeing you back in the cricket whites for Wests in October for the 2019-20 season!
