Wests doubled up on their double wins last week with another double against the Gold Coast and Sandgate-Redcliffe in the Katherine Raymont Shield T20 games this weekend.

The girls first scored a big 8-wicket win over the Gold Coast with 5 overs still in the tank. They then followed up with a 30-run win over Sandgate-Redcliffe in a high scoring game where 390 runs were struck in just 40 overs.

Grace Harris led the way with the bat, plundering a massive 230 runs in two innings of 68no (off 49 balls) against the Gold Coast and a stupendous 162 of just 69 deliveries against Sandgate-Redcliffe! Her 162 was the highest innings scored in a women’s premier grade T20 game in Australia.

Rising young Westie Isabel Goffage made her first grade debut in the second game. She was presented with her debut first grade playing guernsey by Wests women’s captain Meagan Dixon before the game. Erin Moran was presented with her playing kit by Grace Harris (after debuting in first grade just two weeks ago against UQ) and Eliza Goffage was presented with her playing gear by Holly Ferling for her first first grade game of the season.

Wests young contingent played great games under the leadership of the senior players and are looking forward to making continuing contributions to great Wests results as the season progresses.

With great wins over two of the strongest teams in the competition, Wests first grade women are in a good position coming up to the moment in a couple of weeks time when our rep players head for the big stage of the WBBL!
