Round 2 of 2 day cricket was a round to forget for our senior mens teams, with all teams being defeated.

1st grade resumed batting on 8 for 306 with centurion Sam Truloff resuming on 133 with the new man Brendan Doggett at the crease, Doggett was unfortunately removed in the 1st over caught behind and then Truloff fell a couple over later for 144 with wests being all out for 319.

Wests got the perfect start with in-form quick removing the dangerous Sam Heazlett for 5 after he edged a short ball to skipper Collins at gully, fellow opener Liam Smith then went quickly as well caught behind off the bowling of Brendan Doggett for 7. Aiden Watterson was brought on with immediate affect getting Leigh Drennan caught at slip by Smith for 12 leaving Redlands realing at 3 – 52. After that things went pear shaped for wests with qld bulls wicket keeper Jimmy Peirson and alrounder James Bazley sharing in a 156 run stand with Peirson bringing up a century (129) and Bazley a half century (68). Some late order hitting from alrounder Milenko 55 from 44 got Redlands over the line 7 down in the 73rd over. Edwards (3-89) and Doggett (2-51) were the pick of the wests bowlers.

2nd grade set Redlands 243 after Josh Del Simones superb century from week one with Darcy Murphy starting nicely with the ball for wests, but the first wicket came about with a run out for Max Carlyon and when Murphy removed Nicol caiught behind for 50 Redlands were 2 for 108. Consistant partnerships from the Redlands batters ensure that wests total wasnt enough with Redlands finishing 7 – 289 at the close of play. Murphy (24 overs 2 for 30) and skipper Nick Vellacott (16 overs 2 for 73) were the pick of the bowlers.

Unfortunately 3rd grade were beaten outright by Norths at GMP2, wests were bowled out for just 94 in their second innings with Norths Nikhil Chaudhary taking an incredible 5 – 5. Norths then only required 39 runs to claim and outright victory and they did this with the loss of just the 1 wicket.

4th grade – no result on my cricket

5th grade also fell to norths by 6 wickets at Chelmer. Norths declared at 4 for 184 in their 1st innings after running down wests first innings total of 59. Wests scraped to 8 for 124 in their second innings to avoid being beaten outright.

6th grade also avoided being beaten outright by Norths after Norths were all out for 247, in reply wests were 1-38 in their 2nd innings at the close of play.

Let’s bounce back this round with grades 1 – 3 taking on Norths, 4th grade taking on Gold Coast, 5th grade taking on Uni and 6th grade taking on Valleys.
