Our first grade women posted a great win over Sandgate-Redcliffe this week, reversing the result of their previous 50-over encounter on October. Second grade’s first game back after the Christmas break was unfortunately washed out.

First Grade vs Sandgate-Redcliffe

Sandgate-Redcliffe opened proceedings with the bat and Wests almost immediately had them in trouble with Courtney Sippel taking out both openers by the end of her second over. Lucinda Bourke and Shelley Savage stabilised Sandgate-Redcliffe’s innings, taking them from 2/8 to 46 before Luci became the first of Ash Sims’ three wickets. Coutrney Sippel broke the next partnership with the score at 80. Wickets fell regularly thereafter, and Sandgate-Redcliffe innings were all out for 135 in the 42nd over. Courtney finished with four wickets, Ash took three, and Isobel Hartog captured two and Sam Dixon one.

Wests innings began with the early loss of captain Meagan Dixon, but Courtney Sippel and Annie Wikman took the score to 59 before Courtney fell to a sharp catch at gully. Annie kept the scorebaord ticking over with Sam Dixon before she departed for 41 off 50 balls with the score at 100. Tammy Cole and Kathleen Mallyon guided the dogs home for a four wicket victory in the thirty-second over.

Several wickets fell in quick success with rain threatening to stop play, but Tammy Cole and Kathleen Mallyon took Wests over the line in the 32nd over, moments before the downpour started.
