Mens First and Second grade went continued their strong start to the season in the qualifying finals for the One Day competitions.

Bulls Masters First Grade – Match report

Toombul 89 def by Western Suburbs 5/91 at Peter Burge Oval

I won my first toss this season and elected to bowl. Aiden Watterson and Darcy Murphy took the new ball and bowled with energy and discipline – taking 3 and 2 wickets respectively. The spinners then came on through the middle and suffocated the Toombul middle order. Brendan Smith continued his good form in the field with another exceptional direct hit run out. Toombul were bowled out for 89 after 43 overs.

Isaiah Snell and Brendan Smith got us off to a flyer scoring 43 runs in the first 3 overs. However, the match got interesting when we lost 3 wickets for none making the score 5/72. Despite a bit of pressure, Josh Del Simone was able to finish the game off for us, scoring an important run a ball 17. – Paddy Dooley

Alan Pettigrew Shield Second Grade – Match report

Wynnum/Manly 9/215 def by Western Suburbs 6/216 at Graceville Memorial Oval 2

Sunday. Preliminary Final Time. West’s lost the toss and started with the ball against Wynnum/Manly. We got off to a tight start led by the returning Nick Walden. The game slowly snuck away from us but was brought back well by Sean Seaward, Mitch Pearce, Nic Vellacott and Luke Penn. We kept Wynnum to 9/215 after 50 overs.

We got off to a flying start with brilliant knocks from Sam Dennien (81) and Max “little don” Carlyon (73) which brought us within 40 and Ollie Maxwell guided us home with 10 overs to spare. Onto the semi final with great momentum. – Zac Beveridge.
