Our women’s second grade team pulled off a 139 run win over Northern Suburbs.

Wests girls batted first and compiled a huge total of 3/236 in their 40 overs on the back of big innings of 97 from Isabel Goffage and 94 not out from Emma Lockwood.

Emma and Isabel’s partnership of 218 is the highest partnership for the second wicket on record in Queensland women’s premier grade cricket. Great achievement ladies!

Norths openers showed great resistance in reaching 32 before the loss of their first wicket but their innings began to slip after that with the loss of several wickets reducing them to 6/62. After another fighting partnership for the seventh wicket, Wests captured the last four sticks for just 4 runs, and Norths were all out for 97.

Wests bowlers shared the joy with Sophie Martin and Lilli Hamilton taking two wickets each, and Jess Bryant, Holly Walker, Nicolene Snyman and Kyrna Crump all snaring one apiece.

The big win earned the team a double bonus point and elevated them to third on the table, just one point behind the competition leaders Sunshine Coast.
